Belize Mission Project   Posted: 2/13/2012
The Belize Mission Project is looking for optometrists to participate in the upcoming mission trips this fall of 2012. The dates of the fall projects are October 26th thru November 3rd and November 3rd thru November 11th. The Belize Mission Project is a nondenominational effort and it has been organized for some twenty years and provides medical and dental services to the people of Belize. In 2011 there were 100 people that participated in the project treating over 9000 patients. This group provides a variety of medical and dental services to patients in clinic sites all over the country of Belize.

Optometrists Needed: Mercy Ships in Sierra Leone, West Africa   Posted: 5/4/2011
The Mercy Ship, Africa Mercy, has two positions on its Eye Team for optometrist that are still open for 2011. The minimum time commitment for both positions is one month. Job descriptions are available upon request.

The Ophthalmic Technician role may vary according to needs and schedule, but includes pre-operative assessment of ophthalmic patients, education of ophthalmic patients, and post-surgical follow-up.

An Ophthalmic Specialist participates as part of the ophthalmic field team responsible for screening surgical candidates, assessing post-operative patients, and treating minor ophthalmic eye problems.

To serve with Mercy Ships, the first step is to complete an application (download from web site or available upon request). Volunteers pay their own transportation to/from the ship and pay a crew fee to cover housing, meals, and evacuation/repatriation insurance. Crew fee is $680 USD per month-pro-rated for shorter service and for crew coming from some select nations.

Eyecare Mission to Kenya   Posted: 1/26/2011
This will be my 5th trip to Kenya hosted by a Christian missionary there. We plan on 5 days of eye clinic and 2 days of safari. Trip is 12/27/11 to 1/7/12. Please contact me if interested in joining our team.
